When the board set an ambitious goal to raise $1,000 for Horizons for Homeless Children this season, many said it could not be done. However, thanks to the efforts of our board and the graciousness of everyone in the Cambridge Kickball league, we have already exceeded our goal.
This tremendous effort is highlighted by the Mid-Season Kickball party which, alone, brought in over $800. As of last Sunday the league had raised just over $1,000. To our knowledge this is more than any Massachusetts WAKA league has ever raised. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful effort thus far.
Where do we go from here? I believe we must strive for new heights. Throughout history our leaders have set ambitious goals. From John F Kennedy to Ronald Reagan to John McCain.
Our league is setting a new, equally ambitious goal: to raise as much money as possible throughout the remainder of the season. Could we double our original goal? Triple it? No one knows for sure, but every team will get to guess.
Each team in the Cambridge League should submit a guess as to how much money they believe will be raised throughout the season. The team closest to the actual dollar amount WITHOUT GOING OVER the actual dollar amount will win a prize that is currently TBD, however, certain to please any team...if the price is right. Remember, the league has currently raised just over $1,000. This is the last fundraising update that will be made until the final total is revealed at the end of the season. Please submit all bids to league President Simon Holroyd, or Charity Chair Matthew Hutchens, in writing at Tommy Doyle's on Sunday. And remember to continue to check the blog for more fund raising events...
Again, thank you all for a tremendous effort thus far this season. Let's be sure to finish just as strong as we started.
